How the Guided Service works
The Guided LPA Service is designed for people who would prefer to talk through their circumstances and receive more explanation and support before making important decisions.
It gives you the opportunity to discuss the different types of Lasting Power of Attorney, who you may wish to appoint and how you would like your attorneys to make decisions on your behalf.
We can also consider whether there are any preferences or instructions you would like to include, helping to ensure that your documents reflect your wishes clearly and appropriately.
Once your arrangements have been discussed, your documents will be prepared for you to review. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, request any appropriate amendments and receive guidance through the signing and registration process.
This service is provided as part of Elephant Legal’s non-reserved legal services.
Pricing
The Guided LPA Service includes a £50 consultation fee, plus £95 for each Lasting Power of Attorney prepared.
The total service fees are:
£145* for a single LPA
£240* for two LPAs
£430* for four LPAs for a couple
The Guided LPA Service begins with an initial payment of £43.50. This represents 30% of the single-LPA service fee and secures your guided consultation.
Your initial payment will be deducted from the total service fee. Once your circumstances have been discussed and the number of LPAs has been confirmed, you will be told the remaining balance before your documents are prepared.
Office of the Public Guardian registration fees are additional to the Elephant Legal service fees shown above and will be included in the total amount payable.

Getting started
Once you choose the Guided LPA Service, the initial £43.50 payment is made and your consultation is booked.
You’ll receive clear information about the process, pricing and what to expect, together with the necessary client care documents. Identity checks are also completed so the matter can proceed securely and properly.
This first stage makes sure everything is in place before we begin discussing your arrangements.

Talking through your wishes
During your consultation, we’ll discuss your circumstances, the type of LPA you would like to create and the people you are considering appointing as attorneys.
We can also talk through replacement attorneys, how you would like decisions to be made, and whether there are any preferences or instructions you would like to include.
You do not need to have every decision finalised beforehand. The consultation is there to help you understand your options and reach clear, informed decisions.

Review and preparation
Following the consultation, the arrangements you have chosen will be reviewed to make sure they are clear and can be reflected properly in your LPA.
The total service fee will then be confirmed based on the number of LPAs being prepared, with your initial payment deducted from that amount.
Once the remaining balance has been paid, your LPA documents will be prepared and provided for you to review.

Finalising and registration
You’ll have the opportunity to check the documents, ask any final questions and confirm that the details and arrangements reflect your wishes.
Once everything is agreed, you’ll be guided through the signing process so the documents are completed in the correct order.
The Office of the Public Guardian registration fees will be added to the total amount payable, and the completed LPAs will then be submitted for registration. Support remains available through to completion.

No. You do not need to have every detail finalised before your appointment.
The consultation is there to help you understand the choices involved, talk through your circumstances and reach decisions that feel right for you.
What will we discuss during the consultation?
We can discuss which type of LPA you need, who you are considering appointing as attorneys and whether you would like to name replacement attorneys.
We can also talk through how you would like decisions to be made and whether there are any preferences or instructions you would like to include.
Can I make changes after receiving my draft LPA?
Yes. You’ll have the opportunity to review your draft documents, ask questions and request changes before anything is finalised.
Any amendments will be made and checked so the final documents reflect your wishes clearly.
Who is the Guided LPA Service suitable for?
The Guided Service is suitable for people who would prefer more explanation, discussion and personal support before their documents are prepared.
It may be particularly helpful if you are unsure which type of LPA you need, who to appoint, how attorneys should act or whether to include any preferences or instructions.
Does the service include help with signing and registration?
Yes. Once your documents have been reviewed and agreed, you’ll receive guidance on how they must be signed and completed in the correct order.
The completed LPAs will then be submitted to the Office of the Public Guardian for registration, with support available throughout the process.
Are the Office of the Public Guardian fees included?
The prices shown are Elephant Legal’s service fees.
Office of the Public Guardian registration fees are additional and will be added to the total amount payable. You’ll be told the full amount before registration proceeds.
